Casa José de Alencar

Cultural institution registered by the Institute of National Artistic Heritage in 1964. The House of José de Alencar is a cultural institution maintained by the Federal University of Ceará and registered by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage in 1964. The area of ​​the institution houses a house where José deAlencar lived his childhood in the then city of Messejana, today the neighborhood of Fortaleza.

Its current area is nine hectares and comprises a small house of the original set erected in 1826, nowadays called “house”, the ruins of the first steam engine of Ceará, the Arthur Ramos Museum, Pinacoteca Floriano Teixeira, Biblioteca Braga Montenegro and a restaurant.
